Students pursuing their higher studies at the University of Missouri can enrol into part-time jobs. Students who want to engage in part-time jobs are required to meet the visa guidelines. Only international students with F-1 and J-1 statuses are allowed to work in the United States. The guidelines for applying for employment are quite stringent. If students break the rules by working illegally, they risk losing their status and the ability to continue their studies.

To work part-time undergraduate students are allowed to work for a maximum of 15 hours/week and postgraduate students are allowed to work for a maximum of 20 hours/week when the classes are in session. During their vacations and summer holidays, they are allowed to work full-time. However, if the course is below the UK degree level (e.g. foundation or pre-sessional English), students are allowed to work for 10 hours per week.

Yes, international students going for full-time degree courses are allowed to do part-time work while studying. However, an international student is allowed only a maximum of 20 hours per week for paid/unpaid work for those studying at a degree level or more. Full-time work is allowed but only during vacations. Self-employment, freelance and contract work are not permitted.

Yes, such students can get part-time employment which is hosted by the Federal Work-Study Program (FWSP). Students will be awarded monthly or bi-weekly paychecks. Students pursuing undergraduate courses are permitted to work up to 20 hours per week.

In case you wish to change the mode of study, you will be required to approach the university admissions team. Whether you'll be permitted to do the same or not will be informed by the team itself.
