You got very high rank, do try next year or try for private colleges in India.

The scope of petroleum engineering is bright in India. There are lots of exploration going on in India in Gujarat, Rajasthan and in South. Demand of petroleum engineers is going to increase in the time to come. There are many companies working in India presently both international and domestic. The energy sources are not about to end in many years to come and you can surely extract a good and satisfied living from jobs in petroleum industry. I would also suggest to prepare for GATE.

Petroleum (B.Tech) branch has average placement of about 6-7 LPA (75% get placed). If you are in it for placement, go to UPES as it offer better placements.
Other branches, the placement isn't noteworthy.

Go for petroleum engineering from UPES because it would give you an enormous exposure and numerous opportunities in a better sector with a better future indeed.

Do B.Tech in mechanical instead of petroleum because you have some practical knowledge about the subject which is useful.

As per the market demand and jobs, you would get more opportunities in civil engineering. Petroleum engineering is a good field and has a good growth but job market comparison to other branches is less specially in India.
