No, PhD is not compulsory for the JK SET exam. However, PhD degree holders who did their Master's degree or post-graduation by September 19, 1991 get relaxation of 5% for appearing in JKSET exam. In this case, the date of declaration of Master's degree result is not applicable.

The JKLU PhD course structure includes three phases. The first phase is Pre-Phd Coursework which lasts 6 to 12 months. During the Pre-PhD Coursework, candidates must complete a minimum number of credits based on their qualifications:
- MPhil/MTech – 12 credits
- MSc, MA, MBA – 12 credits
- BTech – 16 credits
The coursework includes a mix of lecture-based learning, laboratory research, design projects, self-study, and minor research work. Yes, students pursuing a (full-time) PhD at JKLU Jaipur are eligible for a monthly stipend. The university provides a stipend of INR 25,000 per month to full-time PhD students.
