Yes, Jamia Hamdard University is ranked in the pharmacy category by various ranking bodies. In the NIRF 2024 rankings under "Pharmacy" category, the university has secured #1 position. It slipped to second spot only in 2023, but has regained its position in the rankings.

A latest placements report is not available as of now. However, as per the Jamia Hamdard NIRF report 2024, the median package offered was INR 4.95 LPA to BPharm (UG four-year) students. Moreover, out of 130 students, 57 candidates received placement offers. Some of the companies that participate in its placements drive are Wipro, IBM, HCL, etc.

Jamia Hamdard BPharm course curriculum includes theory and practical subjects. There are both of these subject types in each of the semester. Some credit points are also attached with each of the subject. The theory subjects covered in the first semester of the programme are:

  • Human Anatomy and Physiology
  • Pharmaceutical Analysis
  • Pharmaceutics
  • Pharmaceutical Inorganic Chemistry
  • Communication Skills
  • Remedial Biology/Mathematics

The seat allotment process for the UG pharmacy programme is done based on merit in NEET/JEE. There are a total of 120 seats for the BPharm programme. The university has seat reservation for Indian muslims as well. Admission is granted to the applicants based on exam score, sanctioned seat intake, and the reservation policy. It must be noted that the mentioned seat intake is as per the official website/sanctioning body. It is still subject to changes and hence, is indicative.

Yes, Jamia Hamdard University has seats reserved for candidates who are Indian muslims. Out of the total seat intake, 50% of the seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the aforementioned category. The other 50% seats lie under the open merit category. Candidates applying for BPharm course of Jamia Hamdard can apply for the applicable category. However, students applying for reserved seats may have to present the relevant documents as well.

There is no specific scholarship defined for the BPharm course aspirants. However, the applicants of the pharmacy programme can apply for tuition fee concession, freeships, and minority scholarships (if applicable). In order to avail of a scholarship, the aspirants must fulfil the criteria prescribed by the university. Some of the available Jamia Hamdard scholarship schemes are: 

  • Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti Ajmeri
  • Dr. L.M. Singhvi Gold Medallion (or Silver Shield)
  • Hamdard National Foundation (HNF) Scholarship

Yes, after obtaining a graduation degree in pharmacy, candidates can secure a government job in pharmaceutical sciences or in any other field of their choosing. BPharma prepares students to make a career in pharmacy and introduces them to important concepts like drug synthesis, manufacture, quality control, safety etc.

After doing BPharma at LM College of Pharmacy, students can apply to work in government-run dispensaries or medical programmes. They can also study further to get into manufacturing and research of government-run drug programmes.

If you have a diploma in pharmacy you can apply for to Diploma to Degree programme (D to D) in the university and enrol yourself in the Bachelor’s in Pharmacy programme of the institution. You can also continue your diploma into a bachelor’s programme if you’re a diploma student at the same university.
