Flying pilot is an excellent career option. There is a general shortage of trained and experienced pilots worldwide. A majority of pilots requirement is in Asia Pacific region. Commercial pilots are paid one of the best salaries in India with other perks.
Following are two options to become pilot in India
(a) Commercial Pilot: You can become a commercial pilot by joining pilot (flying) training schools. Following are the basic eligibilities criteria to become a commercial pilot:
a. You should have completed the 10+2 years of education with physics, chemistry & maths as your major subjects.
b. You must have scored 50 percentage of marks in above-mentioned education
(b) Flying Pilot in Indian Air Force.
You can join Indian Air Force flying branch by appearing for NDA after 12th board or CDS after a science graduation degree.

Following are the two options to become a pilot in India:
1. Commercial pilot: You can become a commercial pilot by joining pilot (Flying) training schools approved by DGCA.
Following are the basic eligibility criteria to become a commercial pilot:
I. You should have completed class 12th with physics, chemistry and mathematics as your major subjects.
II. You must have scored 50% in above mentioned education.

2. Flying Pilot in Indian Air Force: You can join Indian Air Force Flying branch by appearing for NDA after completing class 12th board or CDS after science graduation degree.

The job of a pilot is a highly specialised one. It requires knowledge of air navigation, interpretation of meteorological reports, operating sophisticated electronic and mechanical controls, leading the aircraft under adverse circumstances, and being a leader to the flight crew and passengers under climatic and other emergency situations.
In addition, a type rating is required for particular aircraft over 12,500 pounds, or aircraft that are turbojet-powered. Further endorsements are required for high-performance (more than 200 horsepower), complex (retractable landing gear, flaps, and a controllable-pitch propeller), or tailwheel-equipped aircraft, as well as for high-altitude operations.
Most private pilot certificates are issued as "private pilot: airplane single-engine land," which means the pilot may fly any single-engine, land-based airplane they are qualified in. A pilot is only qualified in the category and class of aircraft in which they successfully complete their checkride (for example, a pilot who takes a commercial pilot checkride in a multi-engine, land-based aircraft and passes, may only exercise the privileges of a commercial pilot in multi-engine, land-based aircraft; the pilot may not exercise the privileges of a commercial pilot in single-engine or sea-based aircraft without passing the appropriate parts of a checkride in those particular categories of aircraft).
