Both the engineers hold equal value to the release of aircraft for it's flight. The mechanical systems are taken care by Mechanical AME while the Radio Telephony and communication systems are the responsibility of Avionics Engineer. Both have an equally important job, AME Avionics have to get an Addition RTR license issued by WPC INDIA. Both are equally valuable to the organization.

It hardly matters, as to what course you enroll, because the courses are customized by the flying schools and it has nothing to do with DGCA norms. SPL is an intermediate stage of CPL. If your course finishes on issue of CPL then there is no other way to start without getting an SPL. You may opt to skip PPL as you will in any case get your CPL which is higher than PPL. You cannot log your flying hours, if you do not have a SPL.

Both are good at their own place. It depends upon your interest that what course you want to pursue. But, if you go for placement point of view, then you should join B.Sc in aircraft maintenance. There you will get good placement easily. Good luck.
