In general in India For becoming a commercial pilot, there is a specific eligibility criteria, which you should first be aware of. This is decided on what subjects have you taken in class 12th. For preparation, flying club will help you or there are private instructors available in metro cities as well. You will fly for 200Hrs + Clear DGCA and WPC exams + Clear Class 1st medical, then you shall get your CPL. The next license is ATPL, which you shall be able to apply for once. You will then have to probably fund or self-sponsor your type rating on whatever fleet you are selected in an airline. Then, you finally get a job as a pilot. Helicopter Pilot is a very good option. They have options in VIP flights, tourism flights, private flying, government flying, etc. You will have to appear for the course called CHPL (Commercial Helicopter Pilot License). There are various institutes which conduct such courses. Since you have just cleared your class 12, I expect you to be thorough with your studies. You may appear for NDA or Coast Guards, where you can become an Assistant Commandant under Short Service Commission and after finishing your commission of 14yrs you can easily join commercial flying. This will save you money as all your training shall be done on government expenses. Otherwise, if you go for training on your own, you can expect a fee of around 25-35 Lacs. Think wisely and then proceed accordingly with your choice.
