PEC Chandigarh provide admissions to its Engineering BTech courses through the Junior Entrance Examination (JEE) cutoffs. Students can note that for the BTech, Integrated BTech, and BArch courses, the JoSAA cutoff 2024 was recorded between 10291 and 51699. For the General AI category students, the JEE Main last round closing ranks varied between 15393 and 84826, with B.Tech. in Computer Science Engineering being the most competitive branch for admission. In the first round, the closing rank for the same specialisation was 11591.

The CSE branch of PEC Chandigarh has slightly better placement record it MnC branch of BITS Hyderabad. The percentage placement of the CSE branch of PEC Chandigarh, as per the most recent placements, done by the institution is 95.5%, with an average salary that is INR 11.5 Lacs per annum and the highest salary being INR 40 Lacs per annum. Yes, Punjab Engineering College (PEC) has a defence quota for B.Tech admissions but Thapar Institute of engineering and Technology does not have the defence quota.
PEC has a defence quota for the children and grand children of freedom fighters as well as the children of serving or ex-serving defence personnel.
Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology does not have any defence quota.
