From what I've seen in the Industrial Design course at Chandigarh University, students can branch out into different areas once they get through the basics. The main specialisations are Product Design, Transportation Design, and UI/UX Design. Product Design is more about furniture, appliances, and lifestyle items. Transportation Design dives into vehicles, their look and feel, and overall mobility solutions. UI/UX, on the other hand, is digital—it's about making apps and websites smooth and easy to use. What I like about the way CU structures it is that the first half of the course builds a solid foundation. Only after that do you ge

At Chandigarh University students are evaluated on the basis of both classroom learning and practical performance. Theory teaches history and theory, and practical work shows how ideas can be realized in real form. Evaluation comprises assignments, mid examinations, final examinations, and continuous practice projects. Studios and workshops support where students create art pieces under guidance. These are a part of grading scheme. Important in practicable terms - sketching, model making, and even painting enhance skill so they are given importance during evaluation. At the same time, however, written work, quizzes, and presentations a

MSTs in Fine Arts at Chandigarh University need both practice and planning. Start by making a clear plan for your preparation. Your portfolio is key—include your best and most creative work. Try to cover many art forms like painting, digital work, or sculpture. Take part in workshops or webinars organized by the university or other places. They teach new methods and trends. Study art history and understand important artists and styles. This helps in exams and gives ideas for your own art. Practice regularly, even simple exercises, to improve skills. Seek feedback from teachers and peers—they can point out small mistakes or ideas fo

Yes, Chandigarh University considers your 12th grade marks for admission to the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program. The university uses a merit screening process which looks at your 12th marks along with your CUCET (Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test) score. To be eligible you need at least 50 percent in your 10+2 or equivalent exams. Once you meet the eligibility you can appear for CUCET and then the university evaluates your application based on both your 12th marks as well as CUCET score. This means your performance in school is important but it is considered along with the entrance test giving students a fair chance to joi

Yes, fashion students can also go for research if they are interested. The university has many research labs and groups where projects are carried out in different fields. Even in design, students work on topics like textiles, eco-friendly dyeing, handcraft revival, digital fashion, and sustainable design. With the help of mentors, these ideas can be developed into proper research work. If the project is strong, it can be published in journals or presented at seminars. Many students publish papers even during undergraduate programs when they show good work

Yes, yes Chandigarh University do provide hostel facilities for Fine Arts students. As far as I know, Hostels are clean and well-managed. Rooms are very big, and comfortable enough for students. Daily cleaning is done and things stay in order. 24x7 electricity and Wi-Fi are available. This helps with studying and also when you just want to relax or talk to family online. The mess food is honestly amazing. It's managed by Sodexo now which is a french food management brand, and they give us different food every day. The food tastes nice and is always hygienic. The warden is very helpful and friendly.

Of Course, fashion merchandising and retail are strong career paths after B.Design Fashion Design at Chandigarh University. The university not only teaches design but also focuses on business aspects of fashion. With collaboration and tie-ups with fashion houses, students get internships in retail chains and apparel brands, which is a direct gateway into merchandising roles. The placement cell also supports students in connecting with the brands looking for creative minds to manage stores, plans collection, and work in brand development.
