If you want to go with private institutions then you have to pay a different fee, approximately minimum 3 to 4 lakhs. Secondly, you must either be the appearing candidate or pass with PCM.

I would suggest NIT-Suratkal. You must have used your first year to find out a broad field of interest and your second to find topics which you are passionate about. For this, use the internet or talk to your seniors and batch mates. Once you are at this stage, find out which of your seniors/batchmates are working on the same topic and ask for help to start off.
