Ravenshaw University

Ravenshaw University, previously known as Ravenshaw College is a government university. It is one of the oldest universities in Odisha. The history of the university goes back to the time when the Government of Odisha realised the struggles of Oriya students in getting quality education. The university is named after the former British commissioner Thomas Edward Ravenshaw. Initially, the College had only 19 students with slow growth. 

Ravenshaw University is ranked 151-200 by the NIRF 2024 under the 'University' category. It is a well-reputed university with 9 degree-granting schools. The university is accredited by NAAC with an A+ grade. Ravenshaw University provides all the modern amenities to the students including 13 hostels, Odisha's first campus community radio station, cafeteria, and indoor and outdoor sports complex among many others.

Ravenshaw University admits students based on merit in their last qualifying exam. Some courses have specific eligibility requirements, such as: 

BSc/BSc (Hons): Class 12 with at least 50% aggregate in relevant subjects

BA-B.Ed/BSc-B.Ed: Class 12 with at least 50% aggregate in the relevant stream (45% aggregate for SC/ST)

MA: Graduation in a relevant subject with at least 50% aggregate.
