The computer-based tests (CBT), which are administered in two parts, follow a pattern in the RRB ALP (Railway Recruitment Board Assistant Loco Pilot) grading scheme. The computer-based test used in the RRB ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot) exam pattern for CBT 1 evaluates candidates' aptitude in a range of courses. RRB ALP CBAT comprises several test batteries. Candidates are required to qualify each test batteries. The questions set in CBAT are in English and Hindi only. There is no negative marking in CBAT. To draw the merit list of ALP, 70 per cent weightage is given to Part A of second stage CBT and 30 per cent in CBAT.

RRB ALP exam pattern for CBT 2 is divided into two parts-Part A and Part B. The details regarding both the parts are given below:
Part A
Part A of CBT 2 comprises 100 objective-type questions from Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, Basic Science and Engineering. The duration of the test is 90 minutes.
Part B
Part B of RRB ALP is qualifying in nature and comprises questions from the trade syllabus prescribed by the Director General of Employment & Training (DGET). The duration of the test is 60 minutes.
