RRB ALP 2024: Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) activated the window to edit RRB ALP application form 2024. RRB ALP notification 2024 for Technician vacancies was released to fill up a total of 9000 vacancies. The application form was available from March 9 to April 4, 2024. The computer-based test will be conducted between October and December 2024. The shortlist for document verification will be released in February 2025.

RRB ALP exam dates 2024 have been announced. The CBT 1 exam will be conducted between June and August 2024. The CBT 2 exam will be conducted in September 2024. RRB ALP CBAT exam will be conducted in November 2024. The shortlist for document verification will be released in November 2024/ December 2024.

RRB ALP detailed notification was released to fill up a total of 5696 vacancies. RRB ALP apply online link was available from January 20 to February 19, 2024. Candidates could modify the details in RRB ALP application form 2024 with payment of the modification fee from February 20 to 29, 2024. 

The selection process of RRB ALP comprises CBT 1, 2, Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) and Document Verification. RRB ALP notification was last released in 2018 where a total of 47.45 lakh candidates applied for the exam. Candidates between 18-30 years are eligible to apply for RRB ALP exam. The educational qualification required for the exam is Matriculation/SSLC.

 

What is RRB ALP Post?

Railway recruitment board (RRB) conducts RRB ALP & Technician exam to recruit Assistant Loco Pilot and Technician for different railway zones across the country. This is a national-level exam and lakh of candidates appear for it. RRB ALP selection process comprises two stages (first stage CBT and second stage CBT) which is common for ALP and Technician. In addition, candidates who opt for ALP and qualify the CBT 2, are required to undergo Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT). The final stage comprises document verification and empanelling.

What is RRB ALP Salary?

The initial pay as per 7th Pay Commission Matrix (Level 2) is INR 19,900. Besides, candidates are also entitled to various allowances and benefits.

Q:   When RRB ALP notification 2024 was released?

A:

Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have released a short notification for RRB ALP 2024 recruitment. The detailed notification was released on January 20, 2024. A total of 5696 vacancies will be filled through this recruitment process. The exam is conducted for candidates in the age group of 18 to 30 years and who have completed Class 10/SSLC. The recruitment is done for the post of Assistant Loco Pilots and Technicians. This year, the age limit for ALP post has been revised. Earlier, the age limit for ALP was 18 to 28 years. The revised age limit is 18 to 30 years.

RRB ALP Application Form 2024

RRB ALP 2024 application form for Technical post was released on March 9, 2024. Candidates can apply for the exam by paying the required fees both online and offline. RRB conducts RRB ALP & Technician exam to fill posts of assistant loco pilot and technicians for different railway zones across the country. A total of 5696 vacancies have been announced for RRB ALP exam. In 2018, a total of 64,371 vacancies were announced for the exam. Out of these vacancies, 27,795 vacancies were for Assistant loco pilot and 36,576 were for Technicians

RRB ALP Exam Centres

RRB ALP exam centres are released 10 days before the scheduled CBT exam. To check the exam centres, candidates need to login with user ID and password. Candidates are required to enter their preferences of exam centres while filling the Part II of application form. The details regarding the exam centres are mentioned on the admit card.

The syllabus for CBT 2 comprises two parts-A and B. The syllabus for both the parts is given below:

The questions in this part are asked from the trade syllabus prescribed by Director General of Employment & Training (DGET). Candidates holding Degree, Diploma and HSC (10+2) having eligibility for the posts of ALP have to select relevant trade from the list of trades listed against their engineering discipline/HSC (10+2).

Q:   What is the pattern of question papers in RRB ALP?

A:

In first two CBTs questions will come in MCQ format. The third stage is CBAT, where candidates will be given five test batteries. The CBT carries 75 objective-type multiple-choice questions from Mathematics, General Intelligence, and Reasoning, General Science and General awareness on current affairs. The test carries a total of 75 marks. The duration of the test is 60 minutes. The standard of questions in first stage CBT is framed as per the educational qualification prescribed for the posts. The pattern for second stage is divided into parts-A and B. Part A of the second stage CBT comprises 100 objective-type questions from Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, Basic Science and Engineering and General Awareness on Current Affairs. Part B carries questions based on the candidate's discipline.

RRB ALP Exam Pattern 2024

The stage-wise exam pattern of RRB ALP is explained below:

RRB ALP First Stage CBT

  • This stage is common for ALP & Technician posts and is qualifying in nature. This means the marks obtained in this stage will not be counted for final merit list
  • The paper contains 75 objective type questions (MCQs) and total time given to complete the paper is 60 minutes
  • Each question carries one mark, hence, the total mark of the paper is 75
  • There is negative marking for incorrect answers, ⅓ mark is deducted for wrong answer

RRB ALP Second Stage CBT

  • Those who secure cut off marks in first stage CBT, get a call for second stage CBT
  • This stage of the exam is divided into two parts-A and B
  • Part A will have 100 questions and the total time is 90 minutes
  • Part B will have 75 questions and the duration of the paper is 60 minutes
  • There is negative marking for incorrect answers, ⅓ mark is deducted for one wrong answer
  • The marks obtained in Part A is used to shortlist candidates for further rounds of selection
  • Part B is qualifying in nature

RRB ALP CBAT

  • This stage is only for those candidates who have applied for Assistant Loco Pilots
  • Question papers are made available in both English and Hindi
  • There are five test batters, candidates need to score certain marks in each test battery to qualify the exam
  • The total marks allotted to this stage is 42 marks

RRB ALP Document Verification

  • For ALP post, shortlisting for Document Verification is done based on Part A of CBT 2 provided candidates qualify Part B and CBAT
  • For Technician post, shortlisting for Document Verification is done based on Part A of CBT 2 provided candidates qualify Part B
  • Candidates need to carry the original documents asked by RRBs on the day of document verification
  • If any candidate fails to submit original documents or if any document is found fake, the candidature of that candidate is canceled

Q:   Is CBAT mandatory for all posts in RRB ALP?

A:

In RRB ALP & Technician exam, only those who have applied for Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) and cleared second stage of, need to appear for CBAT. CBAT is for the candidates who have applied for technician post only. Candidates equal to eight times the number of ALP vacancies are called for CBAT based on the performance in Part A of second stage CBT, subject to qualifying the Part B. Candidates are required to qualify in each of the test batteries of CBAT. The questions in CBAT are in English and Hindi only. There is no negative marking in CBAT. To draw the merit list of ALP,  70 per cent weightage is given to Part A of second stage CBT and 30 per cent in CBAT.

 

RRB ALP Preparation Tips

As part of RRB ALP preparation tips, candidates must practice sample papers or previous years’ question papers for every topic. Study regularly, keep formulas and steps to solve problems at your fingertips. Practice and revise properly for the exam.

RRB ALP Admit Card

RRB ALP admit card 2024 will be released online separately for different stages of exams. Usually, RRBs release the admit card four days prior to the scheduled exam date. To download the RRB ALP admit card, candidates need to enter user ID and password.

 

RRB ALP Answer Key 2024

RRB ALP answer key is released officially few days after the exam. Along with the answer key, candidate response sheet and question papers are also released. Candidates can use the answer key to compare their marked responses. Through the objection tracker window, candidates can also raise objections against the answer key. While raising objections, candidates need to submit documentary proof. Candidates need to pay INR 50 for raising objections.

RRB ALP Result

RRB ALP result is announced separately for different stages. The result PDF contains the names of the successful candidates. The marks of candidates are normalised to announce the result. The scorecard is released along with the result. To check the scorecard, candidates need to login with user ID and password.

RRB ALP Cutoff

RRBs release the separate list of the RRB ALP cut off for Assistant Loco Pilot and Technician as per zone-wise and category-wise. Candidates must obtain the minimum RRB ALP cut off marks in each stage so as to clear the exam. All the stages of RRB ALP exam are conducted online. The language of the question paper is in Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Manipuri, Konkani.

Q:   How can I become ALP in railway?

A:

Candidates from all streams can become a loco pilot after completing Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI from recognised institutions of NCVT/SCVT/Matriculation / SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the prescribed trades/3 years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical /Electronics / Automobile Engineering/Combination of various streams of these Engineering disciplines from a recognised Institution in lieu of IT.

 

Q:   Is RRB ALP result released separately for different stages?

A:

Yes, RRB ALP & Technician result is released separately for different stages. The result for each stage is announced online on the official website in PDF form. The result PDF displays the roll numbers of qualified candidates. The steps to download RRB ALP result are given below:

  • Visit the respective regional website of RRBs
  • Click on the "Results" tab
  • Click on the results link for RRB ALP and Technicians. Following that, the result will be downloaded automatically in the PDF format.
  • The PDF will contain roll number of all shortlisted candidates, search your roll number in the PDF.

Vision StandardDistant Vision: 6/6, 6/6 Without glasses with fogging test (must not accept +2D)
