RRB ALP 2022: Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) conduct RRB ALP exam to recruit Assistant Loco Pilot and Technician. RRB ALP notification is expected to be released in November or December 2022. RRB ALP notification was last released in 2018 wherein a total of 64,371 vacancies were announced. A total of 47.45 lakh candidates had applied for the exam in 2018. RRB ALP is vacancy-based recruitment, the notification is released as per the requirement of various departments in zonal railways. What is RRB ALP Post?
Railway recruitment board (RRB) conducts RRB ALP & Technician exam to recruit Assistant Loco Pilot and Technician for different railway zones across the country. This is a national-level exam and lakh of candidates appear for it. RRB ALP selection process comprises two stages (first stage CBT and second stage CBT) which is common for ALP and Technician. In addition, candidates who opt for ALP and qualify the CBT 2, are required to undergo Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT). The final stage comprises document verification and empanelling.
What is RRB ALP Salary?
The initial pay as per 7th Pay Commission Matrix (Level 2) is INR 19,900. Besides, candidates are also entitled to various allowances and benefits.

RRB ALP Notification 2022
RRB ALP notification is released in PDF form and comprises details such as exam schedule, application process, eligibility, selection process, vacancies and many more. Candidates must read the notification carefully to understand every details related to the exam.
RRB ALP Application Form 2022
RRB ALP 2022 application form will be released online by RRBs. Candidates can apply for the exam by paying the required fees both online and offline. The application fee is INR 500 for General and OBC categories while it is INR 250 for SC/ST/Ex-Serviceman/Female/Transgender/Minorities/Economically backward class.

What is RRB ALP Eligibility Criteria?
RRB has specified particular age and educational criteria for RRB ALP & Technician exam. Before applying to the exam candidates must check the below eligibility criteria:
Age Limit
The minimum age limit is 18 years and the maximum is 28 years. Age relaxation is applicable as per government rules.
Educational Qualification

Assistant Loco Pilot: Matriculation / SSLC Plus ITI/ Course Completed Act Apprentices or Diploma/ Degree in Engineering
Technicians: Matriculation/ SSLC Plus ITI / Course Completed Act Apprentices or 10 + 2 with Physics and Maths or Diploma in Engineering (As Applicable)

RRB ALP Exam Centres
RRB ALP exam centres are released 10 days before the scheduled CBT exam. To check the exam centres, candidates need to login with user ID and password. Candidates are required to enter their preferences of exam centres while filling the Part II of application form. The details regarding the exam centres are mentioned on the admit card.

RRB ALP Syllabus CBT 2
The syllabus for CBT 2 comprises two parts-A and B. The syllabus for both the parts is given below:
Part A
Mathematics: Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.
General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and decision making, Similarities and differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.
Basic Science and Engineering: The broad topics that are covered under this shall be Engineering Drawing (Projections, Views, Drawing Instruments, Lines, Geometric figures, Symbolic Representation), Units, Measurements, Mass Weight and Density, Work Power and Energy, Speed and Velocity, Heat and Temperature, Basic Electricity, Levers and Simple Machines, Occupational Safety and Health, Environment Education, IT Literacy etc.
General Awareness: Current Affairs in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and any other subjects of importance.
Part B
The questions in this part are asked from the trade syllabus prescribed by Director General of Employment & Training (DGET). Candidates with ITI/Trade Apprenticeship qualification will be required to appear in the section having questions from the relevant trade. Candidates holding Degree, Diploma and HSC (10+2) having eligibility for the posts of ALP have to select relevant trade from the list of trades listed against their engineering discipline/HSC (10+2).
RRB ALP Exam Pattern 2022
The stage-wise exam pattern of RRB ALP is explained below:
RRB ALP First Stage CBT
- This stage is common for ALP & Technician posts and is qualifying in nature. This means the marks obtained in this stage will not be counted for final merit list
- The paper contains 75 objective type questions (MCQs) and total time given to complete the paper is 60 minutes
- Each question carries one mark, hence, the total mark of the paper is 75
- There is negative marking for incorrect answers, ⅓ mark is deducted for wrong answer
RRB ALP Second Stage CBT
- Those who secure cut off marks in first stage CBT, get a call for second stage CBT
- This stage of the exam is divided into two parts-A and B
- Part A will have 100 questions and the total time is 90 minutes
- Part B will have 75 questions and the duration of the paper is 60 minutes
- There is negative marking for incorrect answers, ⅓ mark is deducted for one wrong answer
- The marks obtained in Part A is used to shortlist candidates for further rounds of selection
- Part B is qualifying in nature
RRB ALP CBAT
- This stage is only for those candidates who have applied for Assistant Loco Pilots
- Question papers are made available in both English and Hindi
- There are five test batters, candidates need to score certain marks in each test battery to qualify the exam
- The total marks allotted to this stage is 42 marks
RRB ALP Document Verification
- For ALP post, shortlisting for Document Verification is done based on Part A of CBT 2 provided candidates qualify Part B and CBAT
- For Technician post, shortlisting for Document Verification is done based on Part A of CBT 2 provided candidates qualify Part B
- Candidates need to carry the original documents asked by RRBs on the day of document verification
- If any candidate fails to submit original documents or if any document is found fake, the candidature of that candidate is canceled

RRB ALP Preparation Tips

RRB ALP Admit Card
RRB ALP admit card 2022 will be released online separately for different stages of exams. Usually, RRBs release the admit card four days prior to the scheduled exam date. To download the RRB ALP admit card, candidates need to enter user ID and password.
RRB ALP Answer Key
RRB ALP answer key is released officially few days after the exam. Along with the answer key, candidate response sheet and question papers are also released. Candidates can use the answer key to compare their marked responses. Through the objection tracker window, candidates can also raise objections against the answer key. While raising objections, candidates need to submit documentary proof. Candidates need to pay INR 50 for raising objections.
RRB ALP Result
RRB ALP result is announced separately for different stages. The result PDF contains the names of the successful candidates. The marks of candidates are normalised to announce the result. The scorecard is released along with the result. To check the scorecard, candidates need to login with user ID and password.
RRB ALP Cutoff
RRBs release the separate list of the RRB ALP cut off for Assistant Loco Pilot and Technician as per zone-wise and category-wise. Candidates must obtain the minimum RRB ALP cut off marks in each stage so as to clear the exam. Besides, candidates need to secure the qualifying marks prescribed for different stages of recruitment.
