RRBs prescribe qualifying as well as overall cut off marks for RRB Group D exam. It is necessary to secure both the cutoffs to clear the exam. Candidates not securing the required cut off are rejected from the further rounds of selection process. Separate cut offs are released for different stages of recruitment.

The RRB Group D tests are not exclusive to SC/ST applicants. Any eligible candidate, regardless of caste or category, may take the RRB Group D exam. To fill entry-level jobs in the Indian Railways, including track maintainers, helpers, and porters, among other posts, the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) administers the Group D tests. Candidates from all OBC (Other Backward Classes), SC (Scheduled Castes), ST (Scheduled Tribes), and general categories are eligible to take the exam.

Nonetheless, candidates from the SC, ST, and OBC groups are subject to specific reservations, meaning they have a different allotment of exam seats.
