SOL DU BA fee is INR 1,500. The fee mentioned here is the total tuition fee and does not include components such as University Student Welfare Fund, College Student Welfare Fund and University Development Fund, among others. Yes, the School of Open Learning, University of Delhi offers a three-year BA course at the undergraduate level. Apart from the BA programme, SOL DU also offers BA (Hons) courses at the UG level. DU SOL admission to both BA and BA (Hons) courses is based on candidates' performance in their last qualifying examination (Class 12).

SOL Delhi University application process for the admission year 2023-2024 generally commences from the month of Jun or Jul. The last date to apply was Sep 30 and Oct 18 for MBA. Aspirants could submit their application online through SOL's official website. DU SOL admission to the UG and PG courses is based on merit. Candidates seeking admission to any course offered by DU SOL must have passed Class 12 (for UG) and graduation (for PG) with a minimum of 40 per cent to 50 per cent aggregate or equivalent with the relevant subject from the University of Delhi or any other recognised institute/ university or Board for General category candidate. For OBC candidates, the minimum percentage is lower whereas for SC and ST candidates they should have just passed Class 12 or Grdauation (whatever applicable). The schedule for DU SOL admissions 2023 to UG, BLISc, MLISc, PG and MBA courses has been released on the official website at sol.du.ac.in. Candidates seeking admission to UG courses including BA Prog Psychology and BA Prog Computer Applications must fill in the application form before Sep 15, whereas the last date of registration for other UG courses is Sep 30. For BLISc and MLISc admissions, the last date for registration is also Sep 30. Further, for PG and MBA courses, the last day for registration is Sep 11. As per the last year trends, School of Open Learning University of Delhi had released till the second merit list for PG courses MA and MCom in Dec 2022. DU SOL PG merit lists are released based on merit as well as entrance exams. After the release of DU SOL PG merit list 2023, selected candidates are required to accept seat in a given time period. If the confirmation of admission is not done before the final date, then the allotment is cancelled. Hence, there are chances that DU SOL will be releasing upto two merit lists for the PG courses.

DU SOL admission 2023 to various UG and PG courses is based on merit in Class 12. Candidates who are seeking admission to DU SOL must have an aggregate of 45 per cent in Class 12 in case student is from General category. Whereas for  OBC category candidates must have passed Class 12 with 40 per cent aggregate and for SC/ ST/ PwBD students, they must have passed Class 12. As such there is no DU SOL cutoff for any course, all admissions are based on merit. For more details regarding DU SOL cutoff 2024, click here.

Although, DU SOL is 23 years older than IGNOU, yet the latter has an edge over the former in the following ways:

  • DU SOL has limited courses to offer as compared to IGNOU provides a wide range of courses which are more than 200 in number
  • In DU SOL, the students are required to go to classes and exam centres assigned strictly by the university. Whereas IGNOU provides the facility to select the nearest location so that it’s easy for the students to commute
  • The DU SOL degree does not have the same value as that of IGNOU when it comes to studying abroad. IGNOU has recognised well across Asia and in many commonwealth countries
