To apply for most B.Sc. courses, you generally need at least 50% marks in your aggregate (total score) in your +2 or Intermediate Science exams. However, meeting the total percentage isn't enough; you must also meet "Hons. Specific" criteria. For example, to study BSc Physics at St. Xavier's College Ranchi, you need 50% in Physics and 45% in Mathematics.

Generally, B.Sc. courses are reserved for Science students, but B.Sc. Statistics is a unique exception. If you studied Commerce or Arts (with Economics) in 10+2, you can apply for Statistics provided you scored at least 40% in Mathematics and have a 50% overall aggregate. For other subjects like Botany, Zoology, or Geology, a Science background (PCB/PCM) is strictly mandatory because the advanced coursework builds directly on high school biology, chemistry, and physics concepts.

St. Xavier's emphasizes "learning by doing." Whether you choose traditional subjects like Physics and Chemistry or field-based ones like Geology, you will spend significant time in modern laboratories. The programme includes mandatory project work where you apply classroom theories to real-world scientific problems.

There is no mention of provisional admissions being granted for MGR University BSc admissions. Generally, institutes that select candidates on merit of Class 12 board exams do not offer admissions without the Class 12 board exam marksheet.
Thus, candidates who are still awaiting their Class 12 board exam results can assume that they cannot apply for MGR University BSc admissions.

St. Xavier's College, Ranchi generally offers 80 seats for the BSc Mathematics honors program. Because Mathematics is a foundational subject for many careers, these seats fill up very quickly during the first round of admission. It is one of the larger departments in the Science faculty at St. Xavier's, but the high number of applicants still makes getting a BSc seat here a very competitive task for most students.
