Usually, BSc and BSc Honours are considered to be equally important academically. But a BSc Honours degree is slightly tougher than a BSc general, as it has a more in-depth approach towards specific subjects. An honours degree lasts up to 4 years and has more research components as compared to a normal BSc degree. An honours degree is advisable when you have a rigorous interest in one specific subject.

No, Maths is not compulsory for pursuing a BSc Biotechnology. So, you can go for a BSc in Biotechnology without having mathematics in your 12th class. The minimum requirement for BSc. Biotechnology requires successfully passing 12th class in the Science stream with PCBM or PCM subjects. The criteria may vary based on different universities/colleges.

You don't really need to be a coding genius. But you should be open to learning some basic programming and statistics.

  • You'll learn Python or R but only the parts needed for analysis.
  • You'll learn basic statistics, probability and linear algebra—not PhD-level maths.
  • If you're from commerce, arts, or management, don't worry! These concepts are taught from scratch in most good colleges.

But remember, Before joining, you can do a short online course on Python or Excel. It'll give you a head start and boost your confidence.
