The highest cut-off marks for DU admissions typically fall between 650-700. For admission to the B.Com (Hons) course, a score above 700 is considered good. Candidates are often confused between Diploma in Sociology and BA Sociology. Let me tell you that both these are different qualifications though they have similar eligibility criteria. BA Sociology is a more popular option among students. Diploma in Sociology is often pursued by candidates before pursuing a bachelor's degree. You must know that a Diploma is not equivalent to an undergraduate degree. Many students who do have scored less than 50% marks in Class 12 and are not eligible to apply for BA Soiology course in reputed colleges apply for Diploma courses.  

Of course, you are eligible for BA Sociology even if you have not studied Sociology as a subject in Class 12. You need not worry because Sociology courses especially at the undergraduate level are open to all. You can apply for the course irrespective of your stream or board.
