Yes, Basel is considered among the safest cities in the country with very little crime rate relative to other countries.

The city houses eight police stations spread across the city as well as private residential guards who patrol regularly across neighbourhoods both day & night.

Crime Prevention is given serious emphasis, with police offers frequently taking part in courses & imparting training to school children.

The University of Basel accepts admissions for entry to its Fall & Spring semesters.

The upcoming Fall 2025 admission deadline at UOB is Apr 30. Students interested in Spring 2026 entry can file respective applications by Nov 30. It is advised to apply as early as possible.

The GPA requirements vary for different courses as well as the applicant's country of origin. The university does not specify any GPA requirements for Indian students.

However, as per student reviews collected from some unofficial student community platforms, the minimum GPA needed for admissions at UOB is around 3.0.

Candidates must also demonstrate solid English language proficiency, & must secure a minimum score of 7.0. in IELTS to be eligible for admissions to most courses at the university.

Some courses also accept IELTS score of 6.0.

Prospective students must demonstrate proficiency in the English language with a minimum attainment of level C1 as per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, before the start of the course. The same is also true for master's courses being taught primarily in English.

Yes, the University of Basel accepts IELTS as a valid proof of language proficiency. The minimum IELTS score required for admission at the University of Basel is 7.0.

Some courses also accept an overall IELTS score of 6.0.  

The institute also accepts TOEFL scores, with a minimum iBT score of around 96 deemed acceptable for admissions.

The University of Basel course fee is dependent on the level of course students decide to pursue.

The per-semester course fee of a UG & PG level programme is around INR 82,450, while that of a doctoral programme is around INR 34,000.

Other than that students who take a leave of absence over the duration of the semester are required to pay a reduced fee of around INR 15,000.
