Telecommunication engineering is actually nomenclatured as ETC (Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering) or ECE (Electronics & Communication Engineering). After passing out from this steam, you need to work on Electronics devices. You also have the scope of programming Integrated circuits (ICs) and make them work in the way you want it to. You have immense scope in VLSI.

As you have already done automation training, I would suggest you to go for automation only because your practical exposure of training will pay off.
Rest you should choose the branch keeping in mind the types of jobs you will get after completing the course and towards which stream you are most inclined.

Canadian universities do not follow any official ranking system as such. Same applies to SPP colleges. While not all SPP offers PG courses, there are a few colleges which does and they are quite popular. Few of them include Durham College, George Brown College, Sheridan College, Humber College, Seneca College and Centennial College of Applied Arts & Technology.
