First start with the basic find the syllabus of the exam which will be available on the college website, and schedule how much time left for the exam, After getting don't get just stuck into the syllabus first revise what you had learnt in your previous class it will be the most beneficial for you and lastly don't forget to get the previous year question papers, solve it within the time which will be given in the exam that's how you will make a habit and get more marks in finals. Some tips for preparing IIT JAM in 6 months
More books create confusion, so go for best books suggested by Toppers. Pick up the topics in the study plan line by line and prepare it. After completing the topics solve the question of that chapter. Make your own notes to understand easily during the exam. After completing the whole syllabus solved the previous year question papers to get an idea about the paper level. The conducting IIT also provide the IIT JAM Question Papers with Answer key. Also, give the mock test to boost your speed and accuracy. Revision is important so revise whole the syllabus before the exam. Good luck.
