There are basically 4 sections in SSC exams - Verbal Ability, DILR, Quants and GK. Verbal Ability:
Start reading newspaper daily to increase your reading speed and grasping power. It will also help you to get in touch with basic vocab. Don't miss out the editorial page. Do a proper analysis of articles on the editorial page. Try to make a summary of articles that you read para by para. You can switch to the book called WORD POWER MADE EASY by NORMAN LEWIS. DILR
The best thing to score in LR-DI is to practice more questions on a daily basis so you understand which sets you should leave and before attempting the sets what are the things you should look for. I would suggest 'Puzzles by George J Summers'. Quants
This section is one of the most scoring section for student and you too should try to get maximum marks in this section. It has a proper syllabus and you need to practice each and every chapter. The major topics are- Geometry, Arithmetic, Algebra, Number System and Modern Math. It is basically the math that you have studied till the tenth standard. However, having said that, the questions are not really easy. Focus more on Arithmetic and Algebra as these two are the most important topics. GK

Hi,
The material of all education providers are more or less the same. FPSB India does mention a set of reference books on their website and provides them at a cost. The pros being they are standard books and the bad part they are voluminous. Though actual exam needs more of practice questions, you can follow two methods for preparation: (1) Read the books prescribed by FPSB India. Do the sample papers provided on the website. (2)Follow any Education Providers material and go through their study notes and workbooks. But a word of caution out there. Make sure that the material which you purchase by any Education provider is updated. While it may remain for the same for all subjects, but Taxation planning study material definitely needs an update. Also, make ensure the workbooks are updated so that gives you better practice with fresher set of questions.

This is one of the toughest section, especially from previous 2-3 years. Not only it is tough but it also checks how quick your senses are and how good you are in selecting the sets. So the best thing to score in LR-DI is to practice more questions on a daily basis so you understand which sets you should leave and before attempting the sets what are the things you should look for.
