One of my friends had done a B.Sc in agriculture from the Lovely Professional University. So here I am sharing some of the details regarding the LPU. You need to clear LPUNEST and you should have 60 percent aggregate marks in medical or nonmedical and your age should be a minimum of 16 years. The fee for the programme is 120000 per semester but the scholarship you get from LPUNEST will reduce the amount of the fee.
The LPU was the first private university to get ICAR approval. The LPU agriculture programme is designed with a target of the holistic development of students. School of Agriculture offers programs with an up-to-date curriculum designed to suit the aspirations of agricultural industries as well as major research and development sectors. The laboratories of the School are world-class.
One can get a job as a Biochemist, Food Scientist, Environmental Engineer, Agricultural Lawyer, Agricultural Operations Manager, Animal Geneticist, Agricultural Engineers, Agronomy Sales Manager, etc
The dedicated faculty of LPU gives the students hands-on training experience by assigning live projects (Agricultural work) on university agricultural research farms and experiential learning on different agricultural units. It includes disciplines like Agronomy, Horticulture Genetics and Plant Breeding, Soil Science, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Economics, Extension, etc.
The major emphasis of the programme is to get the students acquainted with knowledge and hands-on experiences in the above-mentioned discipline and apply that knowledge to high-value agricultural production in a sustainable manner.
The ICAR-approved programmes include B Sc (Hons. ). AgricultureM. ScAgriculture {Horticulture (Fruit Science) M. ScAgriculture (Agronomy) M. ScAgriculture (Genetics and Plant Breeding)The minimum age required for enrolling in the programme is 16yrs. Students may be given an option to go for a 4 weeks study tour to USA/ European countries or any other country as decided by the University subject to conditions. There is also an option to join a partner university abroad for a semester.
Emphasis on case studies and inter-personal-based teaching to develop skills in analytical thinking and reflective judgment by reading and discussing complex, real-life scenarios are given. This year the maximum salary offered to a student was 19.25 Lacs per annum while the average salary was 4.5 Lacs.
