But, as per the UGC guidelines, you have to complete your post-graduation within 3 years of time period, because if you qualify the exam and not qualified the exam within limited time, then in this case your certificate will be disqualified. NTA conducts the UGC NET twice in a year in a month of June and December. UGC NET follows the exam pattern as follows:

The difference between both exams is that CSIR NET Exam is held for Science stream candidates while UGC NET Exam is held for commerce, arts and other stream candidates. The CSIR NET Exam is held for chemical Science, Physical Science, Mathematical Science, life Science and earth Science. The candidates can apply for their post-graduation subject or its related subjects only. As you have completed the M.Sc. In Biotechnology, you can apply for CSIR NET life Science subject.
