University of California Los Angeles had its academic roots being established in the year 1881 as a normal school then it was known as the southern branch of the California State Normal School and evolved into San Jose State University. The branch had been transferred to the University of California to become the Southern Branch of University of California in the year 1919 and it is the second-the oldest of the ten campuses of the UC system.

Both UCSF & UCLA are considered among the best higher educational institutions in the US. However, admissions at both institutions are very competitive as both recieve thousands of applications for a very limited number of seats.

The University of California: San Francisco acceptance rate is 13%, while that of UCLA stands at 9%

Though both institutions are very selective, securing a seat at the San Francisco campus is marginally easier than doing so at the Los Angeles campus.

Both UCSB & UCLA fall under the institutional umbrella of The University of California. Despite that, the universities are varying degrees of acceptance rates. Both institutions are known to be highly selective at admitting students & are only known to accept highly qualified candidates.

The UCSB acceptance rate is 29% while that of UCLA is around 9%. Thus, securing a seat at UCLA is almost three times as tough as doing so at UCSB.
