For graduate courses of UMBC, a minimum GPA that is required is 3.0 in previous academic studies. For competitive programs, this condition may be higher. For UG courses, the recorded GPA that has been mentioned by the university is 3.96 for the recent class profile. For UG courses, in the High school qualification, the applicants must have further studied these courses for the following number of years.

The application fee at UMBC varies as per the course levels. The UG and PG application fees are stated below:
- UG: USD 75 (Around INR 6,300)
- PG: USD 50 (Around INR 4,200)
The UG applications can be submitted via Common App, whereas, the applications for PG courses can be submitted via the graduate application form link.

The submission of GRE test score is an optional criterion for UMBC graduate applicants. This criterion may be applicable for some courses. Apart from the submission of the GRE score, make sure to submit the following documents along with the application:

General merit-scholarships of UMBC do not require a separate application and students shall be automatically reviewed for the merit scholarship, provided the timely submission of the application. Incoming first-year students are advised to submit their admissions applications by the Early Action application deadline which was in Early Nov 2024.
