As per the Shiksha Ranking, the University of Maryland College Park has an overall university rank of #105. In terms of ranking and reputation the University of Maryland College Park is better than the UMBC. In addition, the University of Maryland College Park has an acceptance rate of 45% which is almost half of the UMBC acceptance rate (74%). This shows the University of Maryland College Park is more stringent during admission and getting admission there is quite difficult.

Both universities are reputed, provide tremendous opportunities, and rank well. Choosing a better one must depend upon the student's choice and priority.

Yes, the University of Maryland Baltimore County will waive the application fee for students who meet their critera at the time of the application. This includes the standout admission network and common application fee that the applicant paid. However this process will take 1 to 3 business days and those through common application fee will be processed in 7 to 10 business days.

The University of Maryland Baltimore County application fee for graduate courses is USD 50 (Around INR 4,000). To take admission to MS in CS, make sure to have a bachelor’s degree. Also, an English language proficiency score is required. Application materials that have to be submitted are statement of purpose, letters of recommendation, other admission materials, etc.

Some of the tips that students starting their first semester at UMBC should keep in mind are:

  • Join a club or organisation for sure. This will help in getting engaged with your interests
  • The class sizes at the university are very small so it is easy to have a good bonding with the professors
  • ·Try not to get pressurized too much since you will be starting college. Make sure to have a balance between your studies and your hobbies
