The IAS test consists of 48 subjects in total. Every year, UPSC gives all candidates the opportunity to choose their subject from a list of optional subjects published in the IAS notice. There are 25 subjects to pick from, as well as 23 literature languages subjects. For more information please refer to Alchemy IAS website.

Minimum qualification for UPSC exam is you must hold a degree from Government recognised Universities or possess an equivalent qualification. If you are in their final year or awaiting results are also eligible to appear for UPSC preliminary Examination.

The candidate must have at least a Bachelor's degree from a recognised university to take the UPSC exam. Even those candidates who have written the final year exams of the qualifying exam (Bachelor's degree) and are awaiting results can apply. Hope this helps.

You will go through your core books in the civil engineering branch and also keep focusing on the aptitude part and Maths part also for the GATE exam because GATE cut off is based on your caste and you need to prepare well for not qualifying but also keep trying to achieve a good rank in GATE to be placed in government recognized companies directly.
