F-1 regulations require that students should be making “good academic progress”. However, DHS has recognised that students may fail a class, which does not affect their status.  The purpose of F-1 status is to study and complete a degree. • Harvard University: 80+
• Stanford University: 101+
• Caltech (California Institute of Technology): 110+

IELTS is not compulsory for all universities in the USA. Many institutions have alternative requirements or allow students to demonstrate their English proficiency through different means. Always verify with the specific university regarding their language requirements.
