Choose Rice MECE if you prefer a prestigious, coursework-only programme focused on quick industry entry, especially in Texas. Opt for Virginia Tech MS if you want research opportunities, flexibility (thesis/non-thesis), and lower costs. Rice offers elite connections and smaller classes, while Virginia Tech provides strong engineering reputation, broad alumni network, and better PhD or research pathways.

While Virginia Tech does offer much of the same scholarships to international students as it does it to its students in the US, it is not known to offer 100% scholarships to international students.
US based students can apply for the Presidential Scholarship Initiative (PSI), as part of which, all eligible candidates can avail a full coverage of tuition, fees & the costs associated with room & board.
International students, however, can apply for general scholarships & other financial aid programs at Virginia Tech that cover a portion of the tuition fees.

The Virginia Tech University acceptance rate of 57%, makes it one of the more selective higher education institutes in the region. However, Purdue, itself has an acceptance rate, of around 53%, making Virginia Tech, though only marginallly, but relatively easier to secure admissions at.
Prospective students must perform really well in respective school & college level academics, maintain a solid CV that demonstrates their non-academic abilities & submit respective applications on time to have the best possible chance of admission at either institute.
