Admissions to VTU are done purely based on the entrance examinations. There are multiple exams accepted for admission varying as per the course opted and its eligibili ycriteria. Some of the entrance exams accepted at VTU Belgaum are JEE mains, GATE, NATA, KMAT, PGCET, etc. Interested candidates can apply to the desired courses through online and offline mode.

The cutoff marks for each course under B.Tech program at VTU Belgaum varies each year with respect to the specialization opted, seat intake and the total number of applicants. An VTU, KCET Cut off of 36616 to 48454th rank was required for general category students for B.Tech in various specializations and 39023 to 58533rd rank for SC category students for B.Tech in various specializations. M.E./M.TechCandidates must have passed qualifying examination or equivalent examination as prescribed by the Competent Authority and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks (45% of marks in case of SC, ST and Category-I candidates) taken together in all the subjects of all the years/ semesters of the Degree Examination from any recognised institute/university.
Final year students can also apply on provisional basis.
Candidates must have valid GATE score.
MBA/PGDMCandidates must have passed Bachelor's degree of minimum of 3 years duration examination or equivalent and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks (45% of marks in case of SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates).
Final year students can also apply on provisional basis.
MCACandidate must have passed any recognised BCA / Bachelor degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent degree and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks (45% of marks in case of SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates) taken together in all the subjects in all the years of the Degree Examination from any recognised institute/university.
