Choice between University of Mysore & Visvesvaraya Technological University depends on field of study as they serve different primary purposes. University of Mysore is traditional, broad based university with long standing reputation for academic excellence in arts, humanities, science, & commerce. On the other hand VTU is a specialised state technical university designed exclusively for engineering & technology offering more rigid curriculum geared towards industry specific placements & technical skills with many prestigious affiliated engineering colleges operating under its banner.

As per the available information, Visvesvaraya Technological University grants BSc admission to candidates who fulfil the preset eligibility and selection criteria. To be eligible for BSc admission at VTU or its affiliated institutions, aspirants must have passed Class 12 with the required minimum aggregate and relevant subjects. The selection criteria for the programme is merit-based. For some BSc specialisations, candidates are required to have a valid KCET score. Hence, taking direct admission to the BSc programme of VTU is not possible.
