From different sources, I tried to find out but everybody says this establishment does not give lateral entry. However, if you can check directly with office of VIT, Vellore, it would be better. I am giving link that may be useful:

Yes, VIT University is the best to make a good career.
It has good campus and good infrastructure.
It has also decent faculty members and provides nice placement facilities.

You need to book your slot for VIT entrance examination. In slot booking, you need to select your examination centre. This is done on a First come first serve basis. If you fail to book the slot, the college will assign a slot based on their own discretion, which cannot be changed. Once you have successfully selected the slot, within the next 24 - 36 hours, you will be able to download the admit card from the VIT website.

Below mentioned are the best 3 branches of VIT:
1. Mechanical: Field work, job stability and less starting package.
2. ECE: No field work and job stability and good starting package.
3. CSE: You can choose this, if you are code blooded, highest starting package and least job stability.

VIT is far better than UPES - Dehradun. VIT is good for placements.

VIT - Vellore is one of the best university in India for engineering. The placement records are very good. The faculty and internship program are very useful for your career.

As per MHRD 2016 ranking, VIT University is ranked 13 and PEC University Chandigarh is ranked 37. Therefore, based on ranking, VIT University is a better option for doing B.Tech in comparison to PEC University, Chandigarh.
