During the WBJEE counselling process, admissions will be done based on the candidate's rank obtained in the General Merit List. While the general rank will be considered for admissions, the cutoff will also be one of the deciding factors for the allotment of seats. WBJEE admission cutoff will be different for every category, college and course. Therefore, the candidates are advised to check the previous years' cutoffs to know the trends. The opening rank and closing rank for admissions is released through the WBJEE cutoff.

No. All candidates are required to fill out their choice of colleges and courses during the WBJEE counselling. Candidates will not be allowed to advance into the WBJEE seat allotment process if they have not selected their colleges and courses in the order of preference. All of the selection has to be done and submitted before the final date. Since WBJEE seat allotment will be done based on the candidate's rank, preferences and seat availability, the candidates will have to carefully select their choices during the counselling process.

During the counselling process, the WBJEE seat allotment will depend on various factors related to the entrance examination. The authorities will allot seats to the candidates according to their obtained WBJEE/JEE Main rank, preferences, category and seat availability. Since the order of preferences is an important factor in the seat allotment process, the candidates are advised to submit as many choices as possible during the WBJEE counselling registration process.

Along with the ranks, the allotment of colleges also depends on the availability of seats in the colleges that the candidates have opted for during the WBJEE counselling process. Once the ranks are announced, the candidates can check the previous years' admission cutoff details of their preferred institutes. The cutoff trends can help the candidate's make their decision regarding the order of preference for colleges and courses during the WBJEE counselling process.

It is not possible to accurately predict the seat (branch+college) you will get in WBJEE counseling with just your JEE Main percentile. Your WBJEE rank is determined by your performance in the WBJEE exam, which has a different marking scheme and difficulty level than JEE Main. Additionally, the availability of seats in each college and branch can change each year based on various factors. It is recommended that you check the previous year's opening and closing ranks of colleges and branches you are interested in to get an idea of the expected rank range for admission. It completely depends on you, but as per my suggestion you should not drop a year for any exam whatsoever. There are plenty of colleges available around the country. I would rather suggest you to fill the forms and attempt all the exams of all state JEEs and also the private college exams. You will definitely get a good score and get a course of your choice. All the best.
