The Teaching Faculty of the University comprises of eminent and accomplished academicians from some of the premier institutions such as the IITs, IM's, NMIMS, Symbiosis, ISB and IISc, to name a few. IIT is not the only way forward. You can always succeed from nowhere. But IIT helps you grow as an individual. If that is what you really want, drop a year. I personally feel, it is difficult to concentrate and getting through JEE after joining an engineering programme but there are people who have done it earlier. My personal advice would be to drop in case you are that desperate. You need to look at the cost of wasting a year in case you get complacent again. Looking at the other side of it if you get into CU you will mostly get complacent and continue with what you got than going after the bigger dream.
All the best.
