There are no specific details of the GATE paper are available for asked course. But if we go through the eligibility criteria for asked course, all the students of various engineering disciplines are allowed in Manipal. Hence you have to select your own discipline studied at B.Tech level. This will helps to perform in the better ways in GATE exam. Which language you are talking about? If you talk about the stream. You cannot join any B.Tech or BE course after completing commerce, for B.tech and BE, you must opt science. Don't be sad, there is another option too.
While pursuing commerce, take IP (Information Practices) and Maths as your subject and by doing that you can join BCA, after that go for MCA.

No, you can not join. As per the Lateral entry programme criteria, The student should pass in 3-year Diploma (respective Engineering stream) granted by the State Board of Technical Examination with minimum 45% aggregate marks or equivalent.
So, for B.Tech CSE lateral admission, the Candidate should have passed a Diploma in Computer Engineering.
