NIT, Hamirpur is a very prestigious college and the CSE branch here is very good. The labs are well equipped with the latest software, which is all a CSE engineer needs to excel in the field. The faculty also teach their subjects to the best of their abilities. Combining the need for CSE sector jobs such as web developer or data scientist, and the very good standards of the college also make for very good placements for the students of the CSE branch.

I am going to assume that you belong to the general category. As for the home state quota, if you belong to HP, you can get admission into CSE, ECE, Mechanical, EEE, Civil and Chemical branches at NIT Hamirpur, but can not get admission into PEC. If you belong to any other state, you can get admission into Civil and Chemical at NIT Hamirpur, however if you belong to Chandigarh, you can get admission into Aerospace, Civil, Electrical, Metallurgical, Mechanical and Production & Industrial Engineering at PEC. If you do not belong to Chandigarh, you can still get admission into all those branches, but by a small margin for the Mechanical Engineering branch.

Hence I am going to assume you belong to general category and as for the home state, you can either belong to Himachal Pradesh for the home state quota, or belong to any other state. If you belong to HP, you can get admission into the Civil Engineering branch at NIT Hamirpur, along with ECE, Mechanical, EEE and Chemical Engineering branches. I would recommend getting admission into any other branch if you want to, as the Civil Engineering branch of our college isn't top tier when compared to the other branches. And if you do not belong to HP, then I'm sorry to say you will not be able to get admission in any branch at NIT Hamirpur.

Colleges like SPA-D, NITT are better for B.Arch in my opinion. However, the college that you have mentioned are also good.

Yes, you can try for NIT's. Your category quota might fetch you a seat in one of the NIT's. NIT Hamirpur most probably because previous year's closing rank was highest for NIT Hamirpur.
