NIT Rourkela - National Institute of Technology Answered Questions

NITs do not provide distance learning opportunities and run regular or part-time programmes. There are universities dedicated to distance education in our country such as IGNOU, ICFAI, SMU etc. Many state and central universities through their directorates of distance education offer distance education programmes.

According to me, chemistry has more scope:
You can become a scientist in a reputed lab if you know chemistry, wherein, by doing maths, you can still become a researcher but not as good as a scientist.
You can do research in the medical field, chemical field, human body, forensic science and many other. You can make your career in the teaching line as well. Now, the choice is all yours.

See, you may get admission in NIT-Rourkela depending on what course you want the admission for. The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences has been functioning as a full-fledged department catering to both undergraduate and postgraduate students since the inception of the institute. The faculty has wide experience in teaching and research and in communicating with students of diverse background and of widely differing abilities. The students understand that today's challenges are global and interdisciplinary; and they are required to reflect more social responsibility, flexibility, resourcefulness and creativity. The courses taught tries to inculcate all these and much more. The Department offers a full-time Ph.D. programme in the disciplines of English, Psychology, Economics, and Sociology, and M.A. Programme in Development Studies.
