Q:   How is NIT Rourkela cutoff marks determined?
A:

The NIT Rourkela GATE CCMT cutoff 2025 is determined based on a few key factors:

  1. Total number of seats available: The cutoff primarily depends on the total number of seats available in medical colleges across the country for that particular year.
  2. Number of candidates appearing for the exam: The larger the number of candidates appearing for NEET, the higher the competition and the higher the cutoff scores.
  3. Difficulty level of the question paper: If the question paper is perceived to be difficult in a given year, the cutoff scores tend to be lower to account for the tougher exam. Conversely, an easier paper may result in higher cutoff scores.
  4. Normalisation process: NEET UG uses a normalisation process to ensure fairness across multiple sessions of the exam. This normalisation takes into account the difficulty level of each session's question paper.

After analysing all these factors and ensuring a fair and equitable selection process, the final cutoff for each category is determined by SVNIT Surat, which is the governing body for CCMT admissions. The cutoff marks are published after the declaration of results.

More than just academics - Life at NIT Rourkela.
Placements: Placements in the Mining dual degree branch at NIT Rourkela are decent. Around 70-90 percent of students get placed depending on the batch. The average package is around 6-8 LPA. Core mining companies like Coal India, Vedanta, and Tata Steel visiting. However, core opportunities are limited. So many students go for non-core roles like IT or analytics for better packages. Overall, placements are stable, but getting higher packages requires extra effort and skill development.
Infrastructure: As I'm a female student, we are first allotted KMS Hall, which is old, but the food here is good compared to the other hostels, however, a lot of cases of food poisoning were noticed last month. Rest, everything is available on campus, sometimes there are Wi-Fi issues. We have study rooms in every hostel. Classrooms and the library are really good. Events are organised regularly for sports and games. So, you can also grab what you're passionate about and not just studying. For the canteen, we got two of them. A day canteen and a night canteen.
Faculty: Faculty in the Mining department are qualified and experienced, but teaching quality can vary from professor to professor. Some are very helpful and explain concepts clearly, and others are more focused on theory. The course curriculum is relevant for core mining concepts, but it doesn't fully make students industry-ready, so practical learning and self-effort are important. Semester exams are moderately difficult and manageable if you study consistently. The pass percentage is quite high, and most students are able to clear exams.
Other: My dad is working in a mining-based company, so I already had some idea about the field. Because of that, I considered this course while filling out my college preferences. One of the good things about the course is that it gives strong core knowledge and decent opportunities in both core and non-core fields. However, I feel there could be more practical exposure. Apart from academics, the campus life is quite good with many fests, clubs, and activities to explore. The campus is well-connected and has all the basic facilities, overall, the experience is comfortable.

Review of NIT Rourkela - National Institute of Technology.
Placements: We have a placement cell at our college that helps us out a ton. They're always sending us emails and texts, so we're ready when companies show up. Many deserving students get internships in companies like IBM, TCS, Flipkart, and Microsoft. Most of these pay at least Rs. 5,000 per month as a stipend.
Infrastructure: Our college has nice buildings and gear, which is really helpful for Science students. Labs have all tools we need, and the library is solid. The hostel is big enough for students who live far away. The eating area is always clean. The food is alright, but I wish they made more things that students actually like to eat. Classrooms are small.
Faculty: The course curriculum is actually pretty interesting. First, it conducts mid-terms, and then finals. There is about one teacher for every ten students, which is nice. Teachers are highly educated and have worked in their fields for years. We can just go to their office for a chat or even text them if we need help.
Other: We have big tests every two months.

All about the NIT Rourkela campus.
Placements: In our branch, mostly students are placed till now, about 90% of them. The highest package is about 82 LPA, the lowest is about 12 LPA, and the average will be around 15-20 LPA. Mostly roles offered are SWE, Data Engineer, and Data Analyst roles.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is extremely good and, in comparison with other NIT's, the best and competes with the Top IIT's in the country. Wi-Fi is available in every hostel common room, and ethernet cables in each of the hostel rooms, it has a grand library.
Faculty: The faculty members are good, some of them could be difficult to handle, and many of them are extremely chill kind of people. The course is very demanding by the companies, and almost all companies open job roles for this branch. Exams occur 2 times in one semester.
Other: There are a lot of festivals that happen within a year, almost 5 festivals that are organized by the SAC, NITR.

5Placements5Infrastructure5Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
Placements peaked in the year 2025-2026.
Placements: In my branch, more than 75% of the students are placed with over 800+ (still accounting) offers with the whole B.Tech batch. Packages usually start from 8 LPA and go as high as 70 LPA if talking about on-campus offers. Microsoft, Google, Deutsche, and UKG recruit. Around 33% people bagged a summer internship in companies such as Google, Microsoft, Wells Fargo, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, etc. The top roles are of SDE and Data Analyst.
Infrastructure: All hostels have LAN, and all labs have Wi-Fi installed, while classes don't have Wi-Fi. The library is three-floored with Wi-Fi on every floor. The quality of food is debatable as it depends on the caterer, but still, there are high chances that the caterer is good and non-veg food is made very frequently in a week. Medical facilities include free medicine, which is basic, and an ambulance service with in campus apollo.
Faculty: All faculty members have a very excellent career with multiple research papers and accomplishments under their name. The course curriculum is not very relevant in the first year as subjects such as Mechanical, Chemical, Biology, and Physics are taught, but the courses become much more flexible in the final two years. Marking is mostly lineant but the relative grading is not there, and scoring high scores might be painful, but getting average marks is easier.
Other: I chose this course as it was the best offered by this college with the highest average packages. 4 annual fest each year on a very huge scale.

Very good. Actually, I have no problem in placement, studies, or other activities.
Placements: Very good placement rate, 97 percent. The highest package is 31 LPA, the average is 12 LPA, and the lowest is 9 LPA. Many companies come, and then there is an interview. Students study together, which benefits everyone. In fact, most of the students get an internship. Civil is a very good branch, so come to this college for placement.
Infrastructure: Very good classrooms, which also have AC inside, and a new sports complex is being built. Ethernet is available in the rooms. The rooms are very good and have table, chair, fan, and bed. Most of the books are provided in the library. There is also a night canteen for night stays, which has almost all the food items.
Faculty: Teachers are very good in nature, and apart from studies, they also talk about other activities and placements. College exams are not that hard if any student studies a little properly. During exam time, teachers also tell important questions, and almost all the students pass the exams. 33 percent is required.
Other: I don't want to say anything about the college, because the college is very good.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of this college is nice. Hostels are good, and the environment in hostels is also good. The canteen and medical facilities are also good. Sports and games are good. Students play in the NIT or many sports and fests every year. There is a gym in every hall for students.
