It's good to see your dream of getting admission in IIT. Now work towards it. IIT-M is a premier institute and I feel you should be in 90 percentile bracket to get admission in course of your choice.

The closing rank in 2005 will not help you at all. I would advise you to think of scoring g 300+ in JEE Mains and 90+ in JEE Advanced.

Firstly you should aim to score better in JEE Mains so that you become eligible for JEE Advanced. Then prepare well so that you are in the top 90+ percentile bracket.

No, admission to IIT Madras is only through JEE Advanced, if you are looking for a bachelor's degree. For master's, there is GATE.

Actually, speaking cut-offs or rather opening and closing ranks differ from year to year. But, generally speaking, Aerospace is not in much demand. Hence, you will find both opening and closing is liberal. Figures of last years

Aerospace engineering in IIT M, has good reputation besides placement record. Cutoffs for this year's JEE Mains has not been announced yet. You need to be in club of 70 percentiles minimum to get choice of your liking.
