Shaastra 2022 Students Technical Festival to Showcase a Virtual Re-Creation of IIT Madras in Mars

January 11, 2022: IIT Madras students are creating a virtual, future portrayal of the IIT Madras campus, complete with 3D navigation to allow visitors to explore the platform. This innovative idea is part of Shaastra's 22nd edition, India's largest annual student-run technical festival.

Between the 13th and 16th of January 2022, this edition will be held entirely online. Many of the programmes are open to the public and are free to attend. This year, over 50 activities will be held, with a total of 30,000 participants, a significant increase from the previous year's 20,000 people.

The Covid-19 epidemic has shifted humanity's course, and Shaastra 2022's theme, 'Code to Chaos,' strives to illuminate the new world defined by increasing digitalisation.

The Covid-19 epidemic has shifted humanity's course, and Shaastra 2022's theme, 'Code to Chaos,' strives to illuminate the new world defined by increasing digitalisation.

Shaastra 2022 is scheduled to take place in a virtual re-creation of IIT Madras set in a futuristic Martian terrain in order to achieve this. A 'virtual Hyperloop' has been deployed to provide consumers with a futuristic experience while 'virtually traveling' between various Shaastra sites. The Mars dome will serve as a platform for lectures, events, and exhibition booths, as well as interactive games to enhance the experience.

Every year, the Shaastra Summit hosts a virtual conference on a different topic. The theme for this year is Gaming and Gaming Technology. The conference's purpose is to foster networking among gaming enthusiasts, students, and professionals so that they can learn from one another. The event, which will take place from the 14th to the 16th of January 2022, will comprise lectures and panel discussions with speakers from over five countries.

This year's Shaastra contains competitions in a wide range of subjects, including aeronautics, biotechnology, engineering design, and business, as well as law, computation, electronics, and quizzes. The goal is to give a forum for young minds to define and solve problems at the industrial level.

Good campus, good placement, good faculty, but hostel alone needs improvement.

Placements: Placements are good and decent, we will receive top recruits. Core options are more. Package offered is decent with respect to our CGP it lies. Getting an internship is a difficult part but getting placed is easy. Nearly 80% of students get placed in a year. But you should maintain decent grades and skills.

Absolutely beautiful campus with wildlife.

Placements: Internship is mostly based on software companies; not many core companies come even for core courses. Applying for out-of-campus placements is recommended. Better to have other options in hand. Roles in software companies would generally be developers. And engineering roles are fewer.

If you belong to the General AI category, the highest (most competitive) last round cutoff was 155 for admission to the M.Sc. in Physics course. The lower the cutoff rank, the more competitive the course is for admission, and vice versa.

Direct admissions are possible in IIT Madras for some Diploma programmes. For other programmes such as UG and PG courses, direct admissions are not available. Students will have to appear for the entrance exam for admission to the available programmes.
