As per the IIT Madras Student Diversity Report 2023-2024, 3,440 students have enrolled in the BTech (UG 4-year course) and 1,469 in the UG 5-year programme. It has been observed that female participation was 20% in UG 4-year and 18% in UG 5-year courses. For PG programs, 1,695 students preferred the PG 2-year course, while 519 and 274 enrolled for the PG 5-year and 3-year programmes, respectively. Female enrollment peaked at 61% in PG 5-year courses, with 48 international students in PG 2-year and 7 in PG 3-year courses.
Gender Overview:
- The BTech course has a higher intake amongst female students, which is 20% in comparison to the UG 5-year course, i.e, 18%. A total of 16% enrolled for the PG 3-year course and 15% enrolled for the PG 2-year course.

No, JEE exams are not mandatory for BSc admissions at IIT Madras. Candidates who wish to take admissions into the BSc course at IIT Madras must appear for IISER entrance examination. The admissions into IIT Madras BSc courses are decided on merit basis where, the scores obtained by candidates in the IISER entrance exam are taken into account to decide the admissions.
IIT Madras accepts GATE COAP exam scores to offer M.Tech courses to the candidates belonging to All India categories. During the IIT Madras M.Tech cutoff 2022, the cutoff score released between 432 and 877 for the General AI category candidates. For top programs such as CSE, Micro Electronics and VLSI Design, and Integrated Circuits and Systems, the General AI quota cutoff stood at 820, 831, and 877, respectively. NTA has announced the JEE Main 2026 exam date for session 2. JEE Main 2026 session 2 exam will be held from April 2 to 9, 2026. JEE Main 2026 session 2 registration will start in January last week. The JEE Main Application Form 2026 session 2 will be available on the website jeemain.nta.nic.in. The JEE 2026 session 1 exam will be conducted from January 21 to 30.

Yes, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras offers a two-year full-time M.Tech course at the postgraduate level. The institute offers 30 MTech specialisations for BE/ BTech graduates across 12 departments. IIT Madras MTech admission will be conducted via the GATE 2025 exam.
