The cutoff trend for B.Tech at IIT Madras - Indian Institute of Technology has been increasing in the recent years. In 2021, the closing rank for B.Tech. under general category for all India quota was 3259. In 2022, it increased to 3881. Likewise, the cut off ranks have changed from 1584 to 1666 for OBC, 961 to 1248 for SC, 558 to 500 for ST, 610 to 862 for EWS, 86 to 165 for PWD. This trend is likely to continue in the coming years, as the demand for engineering education in India continues to grow. Similar cut off trend can be seen for female candidates under all categories however the ranks are slightly different.

Opening and Closing rank depends on the category and quota of candidates. For general category under All India, opening rank was 3707 and closing rank was 3881. Cut off are different when it comes to other categories or female candidates and even domicile of home state. In All India, opening and closing rank for female candidates was 7319 and 8042. Admission to B.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering in IIT Madras - Indian Institute of Technology is based on the scores obtained in the entrance exam JEE. Applicants are advised to confirm what category are they applying while checking for cut offs.

One way is through the Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) scheme which is for foreign nationals and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) who wish to pursue undergraduate studies in engineering in India. Another way is through the Lateral Entry Scheme which is for students who have completed their diploma in engineering and wish to pursue a degree in engineering.
