Well, I am not from the CSE department but I think I'll be able to answer this question. First of all, IIT Hyderabad, Indore and Ropar are the top IITs established in 2008. Also, as per the NIRF rankings of 2016 and 2017, IIT Ropar has been ranked as the 3rd best IIT of 2008. Also, these 2008 IITs ave almost completed a decade and it will be unfair to call them a new IIT. They have established themselves in the past 9 years and are still growing at a very fast rate. Almost all of them (including IIT Ropar) have started shifting to their permanent campus. As far as the facilities are concerned, IIT Ropar is sufficiently equipped with all the necessary facilities and laboratories that are required. One of the answer mentions that IIT Ropar is very young compared to NSIT. IIT Ropar has risen to a great extent in these 9 years but some people are not ready to accept that fact. They have made a general perception regarding 2008 IITs that they are not that much good as compared to the old IITs. No doubt, they were struggling to establish themselves 4-5 years back but now, they are very much established. Also, their rate of growth is much higher since the government is investing a lot of money for their development. IIT Ropar will no doubt be a better option than NSIT. IIT Ropar is only 9 years old and yet people prefer IIT Ropar above NSIT which is much older than IIT Ropar. These are some reasons for that-
Placements:
The CSE department of IIT Ropar has recorded a placement of more than 90 percent since the last 4 years with an average package of around 16-17 LPA. The overall average package (considering all the departments) offered at IIT Ropar was 12.5 LPA in 2015-16 and 11.5 LPA in 2016-17, which is much higher than the average package of NSIT (around 77.5 LPA). Some offers in NSIT were in crores but that doesn't make its placement better than that of IIT Ropar. The overall placements of IIT Ropar are better than NSIT. With defense quota, you'll get non-technical branches such as instrumentation, manufacturing and automation , Control engineering being from outside Delhi.
If you are from Delhi, you'll likely to get either BIOTECH , CIVIL or MECHANICAL in second or third round.

B.Tech admission with DTU is done through online counseling. Counseling shall be organized by college for candidate who are short-listed through screening process on basis of JEE Main marks. Minimum 60 percent marks aggregate is must in 12th. Age should be between 17-25. The cutoffs for DTU in JEE Mains varies for each branch. For premium branches like Computer Science, cutoff closes at AIR 8992, for mechanical it is AIR 21183, for electronic it is AIR17125, for software engineering it is AIR 13394.
