No you can not, anybody who takes NSIT, has to attend college irrespective where one lives. if you live far away you can easily get hostel which is cheap and pretty good and easily available. best of luck.

If you are from outside delhi, you won't be able to get admission in the COE and IT branches for which the cutoff is around 9k and 13k respectively, but if you are a delhiite you can comfortably get COE too as the cutoff stands at around 35k.

Being better depends on what you are looking for. DTU being older than NSIT is said to be better for core branches like electrical, mechanical etc. I personally have no experience of the DTU dept. If you are looking for pursuing research then here in NSIT, we have Mr. Dhananjay Gadre (prof in ECE dept) who is very enthusiastic about his subjects and provides great opportunities to students interested in projects and research. He has developed a lab which is equipped with the latest technologies like a 3D printer among others. Also workshops by companies like Texas instruments is held in the college during summer vacations and winter training is also pursued seriously in the ECE dept. The syllabus might be almost the same in both NSIT and DTU (i am not very sure about it since I am in COE). The faculty might also be the same although I don't know if they also have someone as good as Gadre sir.
