Co-op programs at MUN allow students to do paid work during their studies (for 3 to 4 months). Standard programs don't give students the same flexibility. Co-op terms are evaulated as students are required to submit a report or have their job performance assessed by their employer. These carry weightage to assess a student's overall course performance.

The choice of which is better depends on the factor being used to compare the two. In terms of overall rankings, the University of Manitoba (#18 in Canada) is better than Memorial University of Newfoundland (#21 in Canada).
However, MUN Canada offers courses at some of the the lowest tuition rates in Canada, and is much more affordable if the budget is tight.
Course wise, MUN is better for Marine Biology, Engineering, and Business. Manitoba Uni is usually preferred for Agriculture and Health Sciences programs.
