Oh, yes. There are plenty of ways wherein one can get into aircraft designing. One can do research in carbon fibre and sheets made of such material for use in aircraft. One can get into research on aeroengines installed on aircraft. One can do research in explovies and armaments that are used on aircraft. Avionics is another major subject. What is listed above is only a sample and not an exhaustive list. Best wishes to you.

A.M.E. Is a three year degree course. After the completion of this, a student can obtain licence from DGCA to work as maintenance engineer on aircraft. Licence is not part of the three year course but invariably all the colleges offering this course, enable and help students obtain this licence. Best wishes to you.

Salaries of aircraft maintenance engineers who are employed by civil Airlines is quite good. It ranges from about 4 lacs per annum to 7 lacs per annum. It also changes from Airlines to Airlines. In addition the employees get many perks like passes to travel in their own Airlines. All in all the salaries of aircraft maintenance engineers are on the higher side as compared to other professions for freshers as well as for those with experience. Best wishes to you.
