Of course. Why would you not be? Just make sure you have enough marks as required by the college. Design graduates are definitely eligible to pursue Masters in design too.

You can get admission in Amity University for AE after completing Diploma in ME. You need to take an entrance exam.

In my opinion instead of distance learning you should opt for the normal regular program.
Now you should go for Amity University and go for the degree course instead of Diploma.
