Go ahead with your interest and turn it into your passion. Search for entrance exams, good institutions and give your 100 percent. Very few people can exactly tell what they are interested in. Don't waste this special quality of yours.

Once you complete your graduation, you can apply for post graduation or Masters course in Deccan College at Pune or MS University at Baroda. These are the two best institutes catering to field archaeology in India. If you want to do it abroad, you can appear for the GRE exam to secure scholarship in any well known university in USA or UK which are the most sought after countries to study archaeology. Voracious reading is one of the most important requirement of this field.

Most of the universities in India that have a department of archaeology offer this subject at the post-graduation level and beyond it. In this regard, the first step towards becoming a successful archaeologist is to obtain a graduate degree. This could be in any discipline. However, it is preferable to have a Bachelor's degree in history, sociology, or anthropology for a better understanding of the concepts of archaeology. Further, it is advisable to check with the concerned university what all Bachelor's degrees are acceptable for taking up a postgraduate course in archaeology.
