ANMs primarily focus on providing basic healthcare services, especially in rural or underserved areas. They are trained to provide antenatal care, and postnatal care, conduct deliveries (in some cases), provide immunizations, promote family planning methods, manage common illnesses, assist in public health initiatives, and offer health education to communities.

A BSc Nursing typically offers a comprehensive curriculum covering a wide range of subjects, including anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, nursing theory, and clinical practice. The 4-year duration allows for in-depth study and practical training in various aspects of Nursing, preparing graduates for a broader scope of practice and leadership roles within healthcare.

Further, BSc Nursing programs typically include extensive clinical rotations in various healthcare settings, such as hospitals, clinics, and community health centers. The 4-year duration allows students to gain sufficient hands-on experience under the supervision of qualified preceptors and faculty members.

On the other hand, an Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) course is typically shorter, spanning around two years, because it focuses on providing basic Nursing and Midwifery care. ANM courses are designed to train individuals to assist registered nurses and midwives in providing essential healthcare services, particularly in rural and underserved areas where there may be a shortage of healthcare professionals. The shorter duration allows for quicker training and deployment of healthcare workers to address immediate healthcare needs within communities.
